The new School Zone is designed to give schools the chance to showcase what makes them great and for parents to meet some of the people that their child will be taught by.
ACTIVITIES YOU'LL FIND IN THE SCHOOL ZONE:
Quite apart from being the first aluminium smelter built in the Southern Hemisphere, Bay Aluminium (BBA) has the unique reputation of having celebrated 10 years of supporting world class STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) development in the state’s classrooms. In 2007, the F1 in Schools™ Challenge was introduced to Tasmania by BBA. The racing and ‘hi-tech’ environment of the program appeals to students who don’t believe that “science is cool”, and through it they discover rewarding career paths and develop ‘soft skills’ sought after by many employers. In what is now the largest STEM program in the world, Tasmanian schools have a strong history of success at a national and international level. BBA is extremely proud to support this innovative program in Tasmania that provides students with the opportunity to achieve great things!
The F1 in Schools™ Technology Challenge is the world’s largest STEM program offered to students from years 5-12.
