Sam and Sheila are the driving force behind Kid I Am.

We're now onto our second Kid I Am, and this year we're able to capitalise on what we learnt from our first event and make this year even better! 

Sam Denmead is a tourism and marketing consultant, who came up with the idea of a huge event for kids due to having three of her own.  Having chatted to the parents of other kids about what they do during school holidays and after school she was learning that there are so many more activities on offer that she was aware of and in searching for things for her own kids to participate discovered that the list of activities to pick from far greater than ever used to be available. Sam decided a huge event showcasing all these activities was the only was she was ever going to be able to decided which ones to pick.  And giving her kids the chance to try them before deciding and what them interact with the activity providers and have their input into the decision was priceless! 

But an event like this is not something you can do on your own, so Sam enlisted Sheila Tivan, a school mum friend, but equally importantly; an event manager intrigued by the offer to join forces and deliver a big event.  Sheila not only runs events for Cancer Council Tasmania (women's 5km anyone?!!) she runs her own event company - Black Box Events.

Together Sam and Sheila nutted out all the logistics, contacting sponsors and making a compelling case for getting involved in an event that was a win-win for their corporate business and also the families of Northern Tasmania. 

Many months of hard work and our first event under our belt, and we're confident we nailed the concept! 6000 people attending our first event is also quite rewarding.
